La Cocina

From the Studio to the Silver Screen: My First Feature Film Credit on La Cocina
🎬 11 Wins & 21 Nominations (including Berlinale & Tribeca)

I’m thrilled to share that La Cocina – the powerful new feature film from acclaimed director Alonso Ruizpalacios – is now out in UK cinemas… and I’ve received my first ever movie credit. 🖤🎉 This marks a significant milestone not just for me personally, but for COBRA Music Studios – and for Wales’ creative industries reaching an international stage.

Bringing Welsh Voices to a Global Cinematic Audience
Back in 2023, I had the honour of recording the extraordinary Bois Goetre-Hen Male Choir for the film’s score. It was a deeply moving session, with the choir’s raw emotional sound sitting at the very heart of the film’s storytelling. We were joined in the room by none other than Alonso Ruizpalacios, who stepped away from directing Star Wars: Andor to attend the session in person. His presence reflected the level of care and ambition behind the project – and the global weight this film carries.

To capture the choir with the fidelity required for cinematic release, we delivered a full-scale remote recording setup:

🎧 35 sets of headphones
🎙️ A multi-microphone array designed for rich, spatial realism
🖥️ Full rig with backup redundancy
🎚️ Real-time monitoring and session direction
🎹 Led by Musical Director Dale and accompanist Bethan

The result was a recording session that fused technical precision with deep musicality – and when I sat in Chapter Arts Centre to watch the finished film, I was absolutely blown away. The choir isn’t just in the film – their sound is woventhrough it, haunting and powerful. Seeing my name appear in the credits was a surreal and unforgettable moment.

A Film That’s Making Waves Worldwide

To have contributed to a film of this calibre, and to do so from my base in South Wales, is something I’m immensely proud of. It’s proof that world-class audio work can – and does – come from Wales.

Proudly Made in Wales, Heard Around the World
COBRA Music Studios has always championed local talent and meaningful stories. But this project showed just how far our work can reach. From a rehearsal room in Wales to the international red carpets of Berlin and Tribeca, this recording has travelled far – and so have the voices behind it.

As we continue building bridges between Welsh culture and the wider world, I’m excited to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve here – through music, sound, and storytelling.

🎬 Go and see La Cocina if you get the chance – it’s bold, beautiful, and bursting with sound that speaks straight to the soul.!
